August 16 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Water baptism represents death, burial and resurrection.
The waters of baptism symbolically represent a burial ground. The word baptize is from the Greek verb baptidzo which means “to immerse.” Immersion is a picture of burial.
Water baptism symbolizes the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the identification of the believer with Him in those events.
If parents would like more information to locate whether their youth is ready to be baptized please go to water baptism basics for youth.
Baptism does not mean that candidates become covenant members of Great Smyrna Baptist Church.
Information For Baptismal Candidates
Baptismal Candidates will have an opportunity to briefly verbally share their acceptance of Jesus Christ into their hearts or if they prefer to be asked a question by the minister officiating to confirm their acceptance of Jesus Christ into their heart is also available. It is requested that parents of youth please go through water baptism basics for youth and encourage the youth to answer the questions to make sure they understand what water baptism is basically about.
We ask our baptismal candidates to be baptized wearing a white shirt with all of our ladies wearing a bathing suit top underneath or other essential covering such as a dark shirt to remain covered when wet. The candidates are asked to wear khaki, black, or blue jean long pants or shorts that are not revealing when wet. They should have a towel and dry change of clothes available to change into after being baptized.
We request candidates or parents of candidates to contact us by August 9, 2020 to share the candidates name with correct spelling as they would like for it to appear.
Candidates must be present by 10:15am on August 16, 2020 to receive orientation immediately before baptismal service.
